Guide to Buying a Swiss Luxury Watch

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

Most watches will give you accurate time, however few fall in to the category of a true luxury timepiece. Watch connoisseurs will agree that a true luxury watch should withstand the test of time, both in style and craftsmanship. This is true for most Swiss luxury watch makers, as many have been around for over 100 years. For those looking to buy their first luxury watch, the options are many. The purpose of this guide is to help you make an informed decision, and hopefully help you in your quest for a fine timepiece.

Many men's and women's watches fall in the category of a luxury watch. Luxury watches can exceed hundreds of thousands of dollars, however you should look to spend at least $ 1,000 for a fine timepiece. It is possible to find significant discounts online and one could obtain an entry level luxury watch for a few hundred dollars. Luxury watches could include a gold case or bracelet, a diamond encrusted bezel, or simply a stainless steel timepiece made with exceptional craftsmanship.

Choosing A Style:
The first question you should ask yourself when shopping for a luxury watch is, what purpose do you want it to serve? Do you want a sleek looking chronograph to represent your professional status? Is this watch going to be a gem encrusted piece, worn only for special occasions? Will this be a gift to commemorate a special event, like a new job, or retirement. You have to decide how often, and in which situations you will be wearing your new luxury timepiece.

Here are some features you should consider in choosing in a luxury watch:
o Band: A metal bracelet, leather strap, or even a rubber band.
o Case: Round, rectangular, tonneau or square shape.
o Materials: Gold, platinum, silver, stainless steel, titanium, or ceramic.
o Gems: Diamonds or other gemstones; set in the dial, case or bracelet.
o Movement: Mechanical, automatic or quartz.
o Specs: Analog or digital dial; a divers watch with water resistance, a chronograph with a stop watch setting; calendars, moon phase dials, etc.
o Brand: A traditional and legendary Swiss company like Omega or Patek or a newer designer label like Franck Muller.

Is the price right?
Luxury watches can range in price anywhere from $ 1000 to several hundreds of thousands of dollars. Generally speaking, you should expect to pay at least $ 1000, but with a little online research, you could find an entry level luxury watch for considerably less. It is important to decide on your budget beforehand, this will save you a lot of time and frustration.

As an online seller I see a common problem, especially with us Americans. Americans love to live above their means, and this is certainly the case for fine timepieces. Many people are looking to buy a watch that will end up putting them in financial debt. When shopping for a luxury watch, you should be looking to get a deal, not a steal. If you are trying to get a $ 5,000 TAG Heuer for $ 800 dollars, then you are going to have a hard time at it. This is the reason why the counterfeit market exists.

This leads me to a more philosophical point; when one is looking for a luxury watch, you should want to pay around retail price. I know a lot of people will disagree, but part of the pleasure of buying a luxury watch, is being able to afford one. You should not be looking to buy a new Mercedes for $ 10,000 and the same holds true for fine watches. My question is why would you want to? A Mercedes Benz is intended for those making over $ 100,000, not those making $ 30,000. Unfortunately, that does not stop many of us from leasing that Mercedes, or Range Rover and remaining in debt. If you cannot afford a $ 5,000 watch, then buy one more within your budget. It's that simple.

I cannot tell you the amount of times I have had people bid $ 200 on a watch costing over $ 7,000, and then send me a message asking if they are close to reserve! Everyone wants a bargain, but many people are completely clueless, and these are the people that end up buying fake watches. You may not want to hear that, but it is the truth. Long story short, Rolexes and Omegas are meant for those who can afford them. If you want one of these watches, you have to earn the kind of money that warrants that kind of purchase.

The Make Up Of A Luxury Watch

Materials:

Luxury watches naturally incorporate the finest materials in the world. Many luxury watches use 14kt or 18kt yellow gold on the band or case. White or rose gold are also popular materials used for fine timepieces. The most expensive of all metals used in watch making is platinum. Many very fine luxury watches simply use stainless steel bands and bracelets.

Leather straps are a bit more casual than metal bracelets, and provide a more toned-down look. They may come in calfskin, lizard, or alligator patterns. For those looking for a bit more flash, a gold bracelet will provide this look. A solid gold band will be more expensive, but also be an investment in itself.

Diamond watches convey an air of glamor and even opulence. Many colorful gemstones are encrusted in to some of the more high-end luxury watch designs. You want to make sure the gemstones are real, as this will add to the value of the timepiece.

Functions:
Horology is the process watchmakers use in the crafting of fine, precise timepieces. Watch enthusiasts tend prefer manual wind or automatic watches. Mechanical movements display the skill of the watch maker and are generally used in the more elite designs of luxury watches. Quartz movements are more precise and do not require as much maintenance.

Fine watch making is an old tradition started out of Switzerland, and remains a passion for many today. Functions other than basic timekeeping, such as the stopwatch on a chronograph, are referred to as complications. Complications tend to increase the price of the watch and display additional skills of a watch maker. I hope this luxury watch buying guide helpful. Good luck in your quest for a fine timepiece.

How to Buy Jewelry

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

It's hard to find a woman who doesn't love jewelry of some sort. Jewelry helps to create an image, a personal style, and the type of jewelry a woman wears says a lot about her personal taste. Some women prefer classic jewelry, gems, traditional styles. Others prefer more contemporary jewelry styles, perhaps ethnically influenced or created by a modern designer. Whatever she chooses, a woman knows that the jewelry she wears will accentuate her look and turn heads.

When buying jewelry, some of the terms used by the dealer can be confusing. Don't let this deter you from your purchase. A simple lesson can help you read through the jargon.

Are you shopping for a ring? These jewelry settings are common when it comes to diamonds or other gemstones:

1. Baguette: rectangular-shaped

2. Barion cut: traditional step-cut

3. Bezel: the jewelry's rim holds and completely surrounds the stone

4. Brilliant cut: reflect the most light from the stone; can be round, heart-shaped, oval, marquise, or pear-shaped

5. Cluster setting: this jewelry contains a large center stone surrounded by smaller stones

6. Emerald: rectangular- or square-shaped with cut corners

7. Marquise: double-pointed, boat-shaped stone

8. Pear: stones in the shape of a pear

9. Princess cut: square- or rectangular-shaped brilliant-cut stone

Jewelry comes in all shapes and also in sizes. When you are buying a gift of jewelry, it may help to take along an already-owned piece to compare sizes. For necklaces and bracelets, a jewelry dealer can give size or length suggestions depending on the style you choose.

One need not spend a whole lot of money on jewelry. Jewelry wholesalers offer quality items at lower cost. Even some costume jewelry is quite beautiful and far less expensive than "the real thing." The important thing about jewelry is making sure it suits the wearer's taste. Accessories don't do much good if they just sit in the jewelry box.

Another thing to consider before buying jewelry for someone is whether she tends to wear more silver or gold-toned pieces. Some women combine the two; most prefer one or the other. Finally, think about her lifestyle. Would she prefer simple jewelry or more elegant, dangling pieces?

Regardless of what jewelry you choose, this is a gift she will never forget. After all, no woman can have enough jewelry.

Diamonds – Everything You Need to Know Before You Buy Diamond Jewelery

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

Diamonds are beautiful but knowing their value requires some knowledge. Before buying diamonds or diamond jewelery, it is vital that you understand the 4 "C" of diamonds. This will allow you to make an informed buying decision about the stones set in a diamond ring or earrings, or perhaps a diamond necklace or bracelet. The 4 "C" are: Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat.

In brief, diamonds are graded and classified by these 4 "C" characteristics:

Cut is the way that the rough diamond has been shaped. The most usual cut is the "modern brilliant" cut which, with 58 facets, maximises the diamond's sparkle. Fancy cuts which include pear shape, marquise, emerald cut and princess cut, can be attractive but they will not maximise the reflected light so the diamond will not glint as much.

Clarity is a way to describe the size and quantity of foreign material that has been trapped inside the diamond, plus other marks and flaws caused by cracks and dots. Usually very small, so called "inclusions", small pieces of black carbon, other minerals or rock matrix, detract from the beauty of the diamond but are an indicator of the natural origin of diamonds. External blemishes, on the surface of the stone, are also incorporated into the Clarity score of a diamond. Diamonds are formally graded according to the following scale: FL (Flawless), IF (Internally flawless), VVS1 & VVS2 (Very very slightly imperfect), S1 & VS2 (Very slightly imperfect), SI1 & SI2 (Slightly imperfect), I1, I2 & I3 (Imperfect). Avoid inclusions as far as you can. Always try to get a stone with the highest possible clarity rating.

Color is extremely important. A pure white or colorless diamond is the best. However diamonds come in many shades of color and this determines the price. Diamond color is graded from D to Z with D being colorless (the very best) and Z representing a yellowish color. If you can afford a D color stone it's the one to go for!

Carat is often thought of as the size of the diamond but it is actually the weight: 1 carat = 0.2 grammes. So, gemstones may appear to be the same size (diameter) but due to differences in the depth of cut and / or the density of the material, the weights or carat will differ. Do not confuse the carat weight of diamonds, singularly or collective set in diamond jewelery, with the carat used for the purity of gold.

We recommend that you seek out a reputable retailer of diamond jewelery. Perhaps ask friends and family for recommendations so that you select a local jewelery shop that you can trust. Then, with the jeweler, discuss the 4 "C" as you consider your purchase of fabulous diamonds. Enjoy.

5 Popular Wedding Gift Registry Items – And Why You Don't Need Them

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

Popular wedding websites such as TheKnot.com and bridal magazines such as Real Simple often provide wedding registry checklists for brides and grooms to help them brainstorm bridal gift registry ideas. These wedding registry checklists typically include items such as flatware, appliances, linens and other household goods.

Just because you're getting married, doesn't mean you have to be married to traditional wedding registry gift lists. It's your special day, which means you can create a gift registry that's just as fabulous as you are. If you're a wine lover, wine glasses are a great wedding gift, but a trip to a Napa Valley vineyard would be even better. Get creative and develop a wedding registry that's truly inspired! After all, your wedding day isn't just an ordinary day. So why opt for an ordinary gift registry?

Need help thinking outside the box when it comes to bridal gift registry items? Here are a few popular wedding gifts and some alternative ideas that you're sure to love:

Gift Registry Alternative # 1: Formal Dinnerware

While formal dinnerware is a traditional and common wedding registry item, many couples will admit that they get very little use out it. Instead of dinnerware, think outside the box and register for a night on the town, or dinner at the chef's table at the most exclusive restaurant in your city.

Gift Registry Alternative # 2: Pots and Pans

Pots and pans can make a great wedding gift, especially if you like to channel your inner Julia Child. But don't be afraid to opt for a more creative bridal gift registry alternative, like international cuisine classes. Nonstick baking pans are great, but learning to make dishes from every region of the world is priceless.

Gift Registry Alternative # 3: Bedding

Because most brides and grooms these days are older, they typically already have a closet full of linens by the time the wedding day comes around. Instead of registering for bedding, adding a weekend getaway at a luxury hotel to your wedding registry could be the perfect way to get a blissful night's rest.

Gift Registry Alternative # 4: Luggage

What makes a better wedding gift: items you can take on a trip, or, an actual getaway to a destination of your dreams? Forget the upright bag with the in-line wheels that's on everybody else's bridal gift registry. Instead, celebrate the momentous occasion of your wedding with a trip to Hawaii, Paris or another breathtaking destination of your choice.

Gift Registry Alternative # 5: Home Essentials

Vacuums and ironing boards are nice, but it's likely that you already own them. Besides, are you really that big a fan of cleaning? Why not leave the hard work to someone else and add a maid service to your bridal registry? Think of all the time you'll save that you can spend enjoying your time together as newlyweds.

Getting married? Ready to make your wedding wishes come true? Sign up for your wish registry today at http://UponOurStar.com . UponOurStar is a wedding registry, for wishes, not stuff. Is is a unique type of wedding cash registry that allows brides and grooms to ask for cash wedding gifts, tastefully. How to Plan a Wedding – Step by Step Guide

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

Planning a wedding can be a daunting and very stressful task. We highly recommend you take six months to a year to plan your wedding and will outline for you an easy-to-follow schedule.

Twelve months before the Wedding

  • Get yourself a binder with paper and dividing tabs.
  • Discuss with your fiancé and his / her families, plus your own, to determine a budget.
  • Decide on your wedding theme eg Christmas, Fall, Snowflakes, Black and White, etc.
  • Select a wedding date with your fiancé and families.
  • Decide on your wedding attendants.
  • Book a ceremony and reception location (s).
  • Book your professional wedding photographer, florist, caterer, videographer, and DJ or wedding musicians.

Nine months before the Wedding

  • Make an appointment with your officiant. For most religious ceremonies, you may be required to attend pre-wedding counseling. For civil ceremonies, your officiant may require a meeting to discuss your wedding ceremony.
  • Wedding gown shopping and first fittings should be looked after at this time.
  • Shop for your wedding accessories, wedding veil or head piece, and wedding shoes.
  • Begin preparation of the guest list. Be sure to include both sides of the family as guest lists are often a contentious issue. It will take time to decide on long lost cousins, work friends, neighbors, etc.
  • Decide on gift registry locations and register.
  • Begin your search for your honeymoon location. If you are getting married during a peak holiday season such as Christmas, you may need to book your honeymoon up to nine months in advance.

Six months before the Wedding

  • You need to meet with the wedding professionals who will assist you on your special day. The menu should be mapped out with your catering company, a review of requested wedding photos with your photographer, a discussion with your videographer on the amount of footage and locations for videos, and your preference for music with your DJ or wedding musicians.
  • Limousines and / or other wedding transportation should be booked. Wedding carriages or winter horse drawn sleighs should be booked and pricing confirmed.
  • If you are ordering wedding invitations and / or save the date cards and wedding announcements, you need to decide on a provider. If you are making your own wedding invitations and other wedding stationery, you should choose a wedding invitation kit template package. Announcements should be sent out to those friends and family who you have not included in the ceremony.
  • Honeymoon trip should be booked and final budget plans for the honeymoon confirmed.
  • Bridesmaids and Flower Girl dresses should be decided upon and ordered.
  • Start shopping for wedding rings.

Three months before the Wedding

  • Guest list needs to be finalized by you and your fiancé and BOTH families. We can't emphasize enough that you need to have the blessing of all concerned when it comes to the guest list.
  • Final decisions and ordering of wedding rings.
  • Visit hairstylist for a consultation and have your first wedding day hair run through.
  • Make wedding day appointment with hairstylist. Don't forget to include your bridesmaids if they are having their hair professionally styled for your wedding.
  • Research and review state requirements for blood tests.
  • Research, review and book hotel rooms for out of town guests who may require accommodation.
  • Follow up on your wedding gown and confirmation of delivery dates for your gown and those of your attendants.
  • Attend your first wedding gown fitting including all accessories and shoes.

Six to eight weeks before the Wedding

  • Prepare your wedding invitation kit templates for printing, including the Thank You cards.
  • If you have ordered your invites from a commercial business, be sure they are ready for you.
  • Address and mail the wedding invitations.
  • Shop for and purchase any wedding gifts for your fiancé, attendants, parents and grandparents.
  • Attend your final dress fitting including wedding accessories.
  • Spend time wearing your wedding shoes so that you are not crippled before the wedding dance starts.
  • Test a spray on tan if you plan to tan for your wedding.
  • Make final decisions on your wedding hair style and any hair color changes should be made.
  • Pick up your wedding rings from your jewelry shop.
  • Print out your personalized Thank you cards from your wedding invitation kit templates or purchase generic Thank you cards.
  • Send any Thank you cards for wedding or shower gifts received over the past weeks.

10 – 14 Days before the Wedding

  • Confirm with your caterer with one final review of the menu.
  • Confirm with your officiant the venue and time of ceremony.
  • Confirm with your photographer, videographer, DJ and / or wedding band.
  • Confirm your honeymoon reservation and any special requests for the wedding night.
  • Address any wedding announcements, stamp and set in preparation of mailing on your wedding day.
  • Final visit to your hairstylist to review any last minute concerns or changes.

One Week before the Wedding

  • Attend any last minute parties or bridal showers in your honor.
  • Write any Thank you cards for gifts received at these functions.
  • Give the caterer your final number of guests expected to attend.
  • Bridesmaids and Flower Girl confirmation of the time they are expected to arrive.
  • Purchase travel insurance for the honeymoon if you are leaving the country.
  • Purchase travelers checks for the honeymoon holiday.
  • Double check to be sure that travelers checks are accepted and easily cashed at your final destination.

Wedding Day Peace of Mind – Priceless!
